The Communication 'Towards an Integrated Strategic Energy Technology (SET) Plan: Accelerating the European Energy System Transformation'1 was adopted by the European Commission (EC) on 15 September 2015 to reinforce the SET Plan as the technology pillar of the Research, Innovation and Competitiveness Dimension of the Energy Union. The Communication calls for greater prioritization, integration, coordination and ownership by the SET Plan countries and stakeholders and highlights the need to address gaps, duplications and synergies at the European Union (EU) and national level. To this end it defines 10 key priority actions to accelerate the energy system transformation in a cost-effective way, and calls upon the EC, SET Plan countries and stakeholders to co-operate to implement them.
